Art is how we express what’s inside us. Culture is how we carry who we are. Together, they help you understand your identity, your community, and your future.
What you are to be, you are becoming.
Every choice, every habit, and every lesson shapes who you turn into next.
Art Lives On Forever
Tell your story through your art.
Art trains your mind to notice details, patterns, emotions, and meaning. When you learn to “see,” you learn to think deeper.
Art isn’t just pretty, it’s a way to understand life.
Culture includes your family, your neighborhood, your music, your style, your food, and your traditions. It’s the story you come from, and the story you continue.
Knowing your roots helps you stand tall.
When you learn about Black history, you see courage, innovation, leadership, and creativity across generations. It reminds you that greatness has always been in our community.
History isn’t “old”, it’s a blueprint.
Right next door, the museum is more than a building, it’s a learning space. The art and exhibits inside teach you about years of Black history, community strength, and the power of legacy.
Notice colors, faces, symbols, and details. Ask: “What is this trying to say?”
“Who made this?” “When was it made?” “What was happening at that time?”
Ask: “What does this teach me about my people, my community, and what I can become?”
Pick any artwork (even a poster or photo) and answer:
“What do I notice first?”
“What emotion does it give me?”
Name three things from your culture that inspire you:
Music, family stories, traditions (or anything you choose).
Finish this sentence out loud or on paper:
“I am becoming someone who ________.”
Art & culture isn’t just something you look at, it’s something you live. When you create with purpose, you become part of the history too.
Remember: what you are to be, you are becoming. Learn the history, honor the culture, and create the future.
