MENTOR: Learn From People Who’ve Been There

A mentor is someone who helps guide you, especially when life gets hard or confusing. Mentors help you learn faster, make better choices, and stay on the right path.

Mentors are your teachers of life:
parents, family, tutors, coaches, leaders, and heroes.

Mentors help you grow Mentors help you choose right Mentors help you stay strong
Why Mentors Are Valuable
1) Mentors save you time

A mentor can show you the shortcuts, not to skip hard work, but to avoid mistakes that waste time. They’ve learned lessons already, so you don’t have to learn everything the hard way.

Wisdom is like a map, it keeps you from getting lost.

2) Mentors help you aim your life

If you want to become something, find someone who is doing it (or has done it). Watch how they move, how they think, and how they handle pressure.

You can’t always see your own blind spots, mentors can.

3) Mentors help when times get rough

When you feel stuck, mad, stressed, or ready to quit, a mentor helps you reset, refocus, and figure out the next step.

Support doesn’t make you weak, it makes you smart.

Who Can Be a Mentor?

Mentors aren’t only “famous” people. A mentor is anyone who genuinely helps you grow and move in a better direction.

1
Home mentors

Parents, grandparents, older siblings, and family members who guide you with love.

2
School mentors

Teachers, tutors, counselors, and staff who help you learn and make good choices.

3
Community mentors

Coaches, leaders, neighbors, mentors at programs, and positive role models.

How to Use a Mentor the Right Way

Having a mentor is powerful, but it works best when you show respect, listen, and take action. A mentor can guide you, but you still have to walk the path.

1
Ask for advice

Be brave enough to say: “Can you help me?” Good questions get good answers.

2
Listen and apply

Don’t just hear it, do it. Growth happens when you practice what you learn.

3
Come back when it’s hard

When life gets rough, don’t disappear. Come back and talk it through.

“I will do it by ________.”

Becoming a Mentor (One Day)

One day, you’ll be someone’s mentor too. The way you learn, grow, and handle challenges can become a lesson for someone younger watching you.
