SELF: Build the You that You Believe In

The “Self” part of STEAM is about learning who you are, how you think, and how you grow. Your mind is powerful, and the way you talk to yourself can change what you do next.

What you think is who you are and who you become.
What you feel is who you attract.
What you imagine is what you create.

Your thoughts shape your choices Your feelings guide your energy Your imagination builds your future
Three Truths About Your Mind
1) What you think…

Your thoughts are like a steering wheel. If you think “I can’t,” you might stop trying. If you think “I can learn,” you keep going even when it gets hard.

Try this thought upgrade: “I can’t yet… but I’m getting better.”

2) What you feel…

Feelings are real signals. When you feel confident, you stand taller and speak up. When you feel nervous, you might hide, but nervous can also mean you care.

Quick reminder: You don’t have to “never be scared.” You just have to keep going anyway.

3) What you imagine…

Imagination is the start of every big thing, a book, a business, a song, a skill, a new move in a game, a better grade, or a new goal.

Your future starts as a picture in your mind, then you build it step by step.

Self-Belief: The Skill That Builds Every Other Skill

Self-belief doesn’t mean you’re perfect. It means you trust yourself enough to try, learn, and improve. The best athletes, artists, and leaders don’t win every day, they show up every day.

1
Start small

Pick a goal you can finish today. Small wins teach your brain: “I do what I say.”

2
Practice the hard part

Confidence comes from reps. The more you practice, the more your “hard” becomes your “normal.”

3
Talk to yourself like a coach

A good coach doesn’t say “you’re trash.” A good coach says “again, you got this.”

Try These (5 Minutes)
The Mirror Statement

Say this out loud once in the morning:

“I am capable. I can learn. I can improve. I don’t quit on myself.”

The “Yet” Challenge

Anytime you catch yourself saying “I can’t,” add one word:

“I can’t… YET.”

Future Picture

Close your eyes and picture yourself doing something you’re proud of. Then ask:

“What’s one small step I can take today?”

Self-Respect + Respect for Others

When you believe in yourself, you don’t have to tear other people down. Strong people lift others up, learn from mistakes, and keep the team moving forward.

Speak with courage Listen with respect Work with discipline Lead with kindness
